On 8 May, Professor Gallagher was elected as a Councillor of the Royal Astronomical Society, recognising his leadership and contributions to the field of astronomy and astrophysics.
He was also admitted to the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) on 22 May — one of Ireland’s highest academic honours.

May has been a landmark month for DIAS Prof. Peter T. Gallagher T. Gallagher, Head of Astronomy and Astrophysics and Director of Dunsink Observatory.
