Join us for our first in-person event of 2021, the annual Hamilton Walk on Saturday 16th October organised by Maynooth University and DIAS. Advance booking is necessary, and places are extremely limited this year so book early! Go to hamilton-walk.eventbrite.ie to register.
Support our Hamilton Way campaign! Read more about it here.
Attendee Information
Please note that this is an outdoor event only, the Observatory buildings will not be open to the public. There will be no toilet facilities available onsite. Please follow the standard government regulations at organised outdoor events including social distancing between groups and mask wearing, and follow all other directions given by DIAS Dunsink Observatory staff at the event.
Visit here for information on how to get to Dunsink. There will be parking available on the Observatory grounds, accessed through our main gate on Dunsink Lane. Please note that the main gate will shut at 16:30 sharp so ensure that you allow sufficient time to return to your car after the walk. Those arriving via public transportation and walking through Ashtown may find the gate at Dunsinea Lane more convenient (no parking here), which will be opened by staff at 13:45.
The route includes walking across a grassy field so please wear suitable shoes taking into account weather conditions on the day. It is an approximately 45 minute walk from the Observatory to Broome Bridge, see the map below for an idea of the route taken.
