Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page! Please look below to see if we have answered your question. If not, you can contact us by emailing dunsink@dias.ie .
How can I visit the Observatory?
Since we are a working research institute, we are only open to the public for specific events. You can see our list of upcoming events at dunsink.dias.ie/events .
Are your events suitable for children?
Yes! Children are more than welcome to our public visitor nights where we have a letter trail as well as worksheets available which are specifically for children.
Please note that we do also host some special events for different festivals throughout the year. These are often more focused on particular topics like history or architecture, which may not be as interesting for children. We recommend that our public visitor nights are most suitable for children.
Please note that for our Race to Space escape room we have a minimum age requirement of 10 years.
It says your event is sold out. Can I show up on the day and get a ticket at the door?
All of our events have a limited capacity and all tickets are sold through our Eventbrite platform. Once our event is sold out there are no tickets left and so we cannot accept walk-ins.
Do you facilitate school visits?
Yes! We are happy to facilitate school visits for secondary schools. We have limited availability for primary school visits but are working hard to expand our offerings.
Do you facilitate scout/cub visits?
We are currently unable to host visits by cub or scout groups but we are working on a new programme of events tailored for these groups. If you would like to be notified when such visits become possible please email us at dunsink@dias.ie.
Do you provide work experience for Transition Year students?
We are running TY programmes twice a year. More details for upcoming TY weeks can be found on our TY page here. We are unable to facilitate TY work experience outside of these weeks.
