On Friday September 23rd we celebrated Culture Night 2022 at DIAS Dunsink Observatory. This was our first visitor night since the Covid-19 pandemic started in March 2020. It was a joy to have so many people visit and enjoy our historic site for the evening.
We had three time slots during which we welcomed over 260 visitors. Our ground floor rooms in Observatory house were open with some of our researchers placed in each room to discuss the history, science and artifacts of each room.
In addition to this we also had our South Dome open where visitors could view our beautiful Grubb Refractor Telescope. Our Director, Prof. Peter Gallagher also gave short talks about the history of the telescope and dome.
A great evening was had by all and we are delighted to once again have our public visitor nights on a regular basis. If you missed out on tickets for Culture Night we have many more events in the coming weeks and months so keep your eyes peeled on our social media (@DIASDunsink) and here on our website. Finally we would like to thank all of our volunteers and visitors for making Culture Night so enjoyable for all.
